Erosion Project Completed

Several years in the making, the Shearwater eroision project is not complete. If you have not looked behind Buildings 7 & 8 or the adjacent parking area, see the photos below and to right.

Below is the completed shoreline along with photos that show how the project progressed from the beginning.

Shoreline as it appears now that erosion project is completed.

The coir log held back the sand where the new grasses were planted.

Sand was dropped in behind the coir log barrier.

New grasses expanded and helped to inhibit erosion.

Newly planted grasses filled in the sand barrier behind the coir logs.
